The Robert Drouault's collection

For the passage of the Tour de France 2006, the town of Beauvais, stage city for the departure of the 5th stage Beauvais-Caen, organized an exhibition on the topic of the history of the Tour de France from 1903 to today. The central point of this exhibition was the collection of newspapers, books, posters, pictures of Robert Drouault, collector impassioned and familiar of the stages of the Tour de France. Through his presentation we can revives the various adventures year per year, at the sides of the champions who made the fame of it. Serge Jaulneau of the VCBO (Vélocipède Club Beauvais Oise), organizer of this exhibition in collaboration with the IME, had been able to obtain a collection of shirts of all times as well as bicycles, Grand-Bi, Derny which supplemented the unit. A wall was devoted to a retrospective of the career of Jacques Anquetil. For my part I took part with 6 bicycles of my collection staging itself from 1900 to 1950.

Then it was the great festival on July 6 with the opening of the Village du Tour on the place of the Town hall and the departure of the stage.

At 10h30, official visit of the exhibition by Jean-Marie Leblanc, Director of the Tour de France, here in company of Mrs. Caroline Cayeux, Mayor of Beauvais. Moment sympathetic nerve but which unfortunately kept a too official character with my taste because of the "cocoon" of official people who surround the Director of the Tour, the journalists and the time counted for this visit.

Bicycles... Competitors... the Tour de France... A receipt which functions always as well and which generates an impassioned public which enters the loop to take part with whole share of it. Once the left Tour, it remains beautiful memories...
